Psychologist
Dr. Robinson has been in private practice for 30 years, providing counselling services to children, teens, young adults, and their families. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts and Doctoral degrees from the University of Denver, and interned at Alberta Children’s Hospital, where she developed a specialization with children and teens.
Common concerns addressed in her counselling services include: problems with peer relationships, depression, anxiety/panic, OCD, mood dysregulation, educational and career planning, motivation and study habits, behavioral challenges at home and school, family conflict, body dysmorphia, gender identity related issues, and management of AD-HD and ASD. She underscores the importance of building a strong therapeutic alliance in therapy, and utilizes elements of collaborative problem-solving and CBT, and behavior therapy in her sessions.
During the pandemic, Dr. Robinson launched a unique modality of counselling, called “Walk and Talks,” which involved shifting the setting of sessions to the great outdoors (usually Fish Creek Park) and talking while walking. She continues to offer these outdoor sessions, due to the observed added benefits that arise from movement, fresh air, and immersion in nature while tackling the heavier problems in life.
Dr. Robinson also offers in-person sessions at our clinic as well as online sessions, as options when weather, mobility, or logistics might make “Walk and Talks” less viable.
